Please feel free to leave a comment about your own memories with Abe.
I met Abe about 6 years ago. I was a new ham and met him at the "lunch bunch" that happens at a deli in Kentwood on fridays. He was one of the first at the table to greet me. He was always willing to listen and give helpful advice if you asked for it. I gathered a lot of knowledge about amateur radio through his patient guidance. He treated me as an equal even though he knew so much more than me about almost everything.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe all of the work that he did for the IRA and the amateur radio community. Tirelessly organizing and working along side of other volunteers at the IRA hamfests. Making many trips to the various repeater sites to make repairs. Working with other clubs when they needed help with their repeaters. The list goes on and on.
Just this last Sunday I had to check out the Big Rapids IRA site. My first thought, as I scratched my head in bewilderment, was, I wish Abe were here. I will miss him for many many reasons.
