The Big Rapids uplink equipment has been removed for repair. It had been causing all northern links to stay in a key-up mode for hours. The remote sites affected by this outage are shown in the Link Status grid.
Hi, I'm told that when the Big Rapids link system equipment was removed the Big Rapids club 146.740 repeater was left with poor sensitivity.
I'm out of state at this time so I can't get up there to see what is wrong or if there is still a problem. If there is a problem my guess is that the shared preamp was left with no power. The poor reception range will definitely hurt us in an emergency and, of course, is a pain for our users. Mike McKay at the University is our club president and can be contacted there. Fritz Pins in the trustee and lives in Big Rapids. 73, Don WA4FRJ"
Thanks for letting us know. This issue has been passed on to the board. The removed equipment has been repaired and is hopefully going to be reinstalled in the very near future.
The shared preamp was left powered up. Maybe the open coax caused some loss of signal.
Everything should now be back to normal. The equipment was reinstalled about noon today. Thanks one and all for your patience. Thanks to Dan and Mike and Richard for troubleshooting the problem.
